Ford Motor 401k (SSIP) Plan PSDS Scan 12-31-2009

A lot has changed since last years Ford Motor 401k scan. Effective 1-1-2010 the plan has a new trustee and custodian State Street Bank and Trust, a new record keeper, some new investment options, a few old ones are gone and Mainstay Capital Management maintains a web site for employees to read about current plan investment options. I spent time on the new Blackrock Lifepath Index Funds which do not yet have 5yr market data. They track pretty closely the Morningstar catagory funds for each target date and that data was used to provide 5yr data.

The Balanced portfolio has no money in company stock F which has a negative 5yr APR = -5.78% hence a negative 5yr Sharpe ratio. The top two holdings in the Balanced fund are the bond fund PTTRX at 52.9% of plan and a foreign small/mid cap growth fund PRIDX at 12.5% of plan. The employee portfolio still has company stock as its largest holding at 51.7% of that portfolio. The stock did not help 5yr performance. The good news is that company stock has started to recover and was up 337% in 2009. I have many friends at Ford and I hope the recovery continues.
