My interest is in scanning 401k portfolios to image the efficient frontier and highlite portfolios that have high risk adjusted returns. The portfolio with highest Sharpe ratio will appear in the scan image for each 401k plan posted.

Model Portfolio for Early Retirees in WSJ 10-5-2011
This model portfolio from ProVise Management Group was published in the Wall Street Journal 10-5-2011. In the scan the investment options VIG and MAPIX do not yet have 5yr market data and are represented by proxies PRDGX and EWS. Also, cash is represented by a Vanguard money market fund VPMXX.
The Model Portfolio for Early Retirees asset allocation produces an above average 5yr APR of 6.84% with a Sharpe ratio of 1.13 compared to the average 401k retirement plan. The US Government 401k (TSP) for the same 5yr period has a 5yr APR = 5.24% with a Sharpe ratio of 2.91. The Morningstar In-Retirement Conservative Model portfolio scanned 12-21-2010 has about the same 5yr performance as this Model Portfolio for Early Retirees but with different investment options.
